RC Pro South Africa was recently announced but the facts are they completed their 1st RC Pro event on February 10th before the official announcement was made. We would like to notice the drivers who competed in that event as well as the drivers who competed in the most recent round 2 event.
Feb.10th Round 1
The 1/8 Buggy winner was Johnathan Ment who recently signed with Mugen followed by Andy Podrenek and Mark Remken. This class saw 28 drivers enter.
The Racing Truck ( Arena Truck) winner was Carl Hein Fommann followed by Willie Louw and Gary McDonough.

March 31st Round 2
Our first official Pro Series event was held on the 31 st March at the
Avion Raceway in Kempton Park South Africa. We knew that the whole
country as well as other competitors abroad were tuning in to our
broadcast on 365 live to hear just how this event was going to roll
out.
The organizers had prepared an awesome track, there were very tight
technical sections, jumps that tested even the pros ability to build
hot suspensions the traction was amazing and the track did not break
up any where, there was absolutely no dust, the surface was as good if
not better than we had ever seen any where in the world. The track
builders had prepared a track which had the drivers guessing until the
end of the first qualifier.
We had decided to run an invitational event and the best local racers
were invited as well as a host of drivers from other provinces, we
were confident that Pro Series Had What it takes to draw the best that
the country has to offer. As anticipated that is exactly what
happened, the absolute best entered prior to entry close, we were set
to have one of the most exciting race meetings ever to be hosted in
South Africa.
Our number of invitees/ racers were 50 we ended up accepting 70
entries and then closed the register, the most prolific drivers from
across the country were now set to take part in this momentous
occasion.
The event started at 12:00 and we went straight into open practice
which ended at 13h00 registration was completed at 13h30 and the buzz
was electric in the pits, every competitor had proudly placed a pro
series logo on their car as proof of entry and we were all set to go,
The 1st race hooter sounded and racing begun at 14h00 sharp, first up
was the intermediate class followed by the expert and pro classes, the
truggy invitational was fourth on the program. We offered a R500 cash
prize for the driver who put in the fastest lap in each class, this
initiative crated some awesome ,the commentator had his hands full as
the drivers in every class kept on going quicker and quicker. We saw
the track lap record smashed by 2 seconds the pro class which was
previously set by our country's no 1 driver at our national event in
September 2006. The record then was 46.56 seconds.
Qualifiers were run at a very hot pace which saw the top 5 qualifiers
all running sub 46 second laps. The qualifying was over by 18:h00
and we saw a few unseeded drivers featuring in the A mains.. Top
qualifier in the pro buggy was our own RC Pro sponsored driver Mark
Remken followed by Carl-Hein Frommann and Jonathan Ment in third
place, the fastest flying lap was a 44.47 posted by Hein Van
Schalkwyk, we were now set for a mains race of note.
In the expert class top qualifier went to Johan van der Linde, Andy
Podrenek and Charl McGregor. Currently Johan is leading the point
standings in this class. In the intermediate class top qualifier was
Hugh Coetzer followed by Fernando Rodriques and Cliffy Swanepoel in
3rd, (cliffy is one of the Rc Pro directors from Newcastle). In the
truggy class top qualifier went to Carl-Hein Frommann followed by Gary
McDonogh and in 3rd Jason Raths.
The main races started at 18:30 hours and were all 30 minute mains.
On the 12th lap Carl-Hein was leading when a coming together with a
back marker forced him into early retirement. This race was won by
Gary McDonogh in second place was Mark Worms and in 3rd Jason Raaths.
It is the first time we have seen Mark and Jason finishing this high
up in an A mains their commitment was just amazing. The expert class
was won by Andy Podrenek followed by Kieth Busby and in 3rd Johan van
der Linde. The intermidiateclass was won by Gerrie le Grange followed
by Jurie Nel and in 3rd Peers Bailiff. The pro class was a real crowd
pleaser here we saw Mark Remken, Jonathan Ment, Carl-Hein Frommann,
Hein Frommann and Hein van Schalkwyk tussling for the lead this race
hard turned into a five way duel, the race was won by Mark Remken in
second Carl-Hein Frommann and in 3rd Hein van Schalkwyk al three these
drivers are all embers at the hosting club.
The overall positions in the Pro class for the event are as follows:
1 ST Mark Remken Mugen JP
2 nd Hein van Schalkwyk Jammin OS
3rd Sean D'Arcy Mugen RB
4th Micheal Gibson Mugen JP
5th Carl-Hein Frommann Mugen JP

I will work on the recording tonight to condense it so I can do a re-broadcast later this week. Please bear with me since this is something new to me.
RC Pro Series now has it's own internet radio station. We will be broadcasting our 1st event this weekend from Homestead Miami International Fuel Challenge.

Nitro Beach Challenge
Wed Mar 7, 2007 5:38PM
RC Pro is proud to offer you the ultimate Off-Road racing experience.

So you’ve been around, you’ve raced here & there and think you’ve seen it all, well, think again.
How about a World-Class Off-Road track in the secluded & private Mar Hau beach resort?
On the tropical Caribbean island paradise of Puerto Rico there is an unspoiled and pristine coastal town of Isabela. The town of Isabela is perched high above some of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever see. Once a well kept “Secret Spot” for privileged surfers and a Dune Buggy racers for years, it will forever be known as “Nitro Beach”; the International R/C racing/vacation destination.
“The Nitro Beach Caribbean Off-Road Challenge” on January 10 – 13, 2008. This is way more than just another R/C race; it’s possibly the greatest racing experience you’ll ever enjoy.
Imagine being able to relax on a on the beach in-between rounds and spending quality time surfing, snorkeling or just hanging out if a gazebo with a refreshing tropical drink. Does it sound good yet?
What if we told you this R/C racing resort has affordable first class dinning and a beach lounge just steps from private beach cottages or condo style accommodations, would that be enough for you?

The Mar Hau Beach Resort offers Surfing, Body-Boarding, Diving, Snorkeling, Sea Kayaking, Wind Surfing, Beach Combing and Sun Worshiping in a private and secure location. The Resort features Freshwater & Natural Saltwater Pools, Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball, Horseback Riding and Spectacular Sunset views.

“Hard Core” R/C Racers & Manufacturers, this RC Pro Special Event is open to anyone or company that is up to the challenge. The “Nitro Beach Track” physical construction begins on this April 2007. Our newly formed RC Pro Off-Road Caribbean Division is already in place, the property has been allocated on the resort complex and Government approval is finalized. So in other words, RC Pro is ready to go!
RC Pro intends to construct a high-speed, high-flying and flowing track design where speed, control and endurance of both Driver and equipment will be tested. Rich red clay from deep inside Puerto Rico’s interior will provide the moist track surface. Track area will be approximately 200’X 100’. There will be fresh running water, covered pitting areas, compressed air and permanent restroom facilities trackside. The Drivers stand will face north towards the ocean so you’ll never forget this racing location.

We will have a total entry limit of 225 for this event. There will be a 150 RC Pro Caribbean member limit, so there will only be 75 entries available to North American and International racers.
RC Pro will open event registrations upon our official “ground-breaking” ceremony this April at the beautiful Mar Hau Beach Resort in Isabela Puerto Rico.
RC Pro realizes that our “2008 Nitro Beach Caribbean Off-Road Challenge” is not for everyone, but if you want an unforgettable racing vacation that everyone will enjoy, this is the event for you.
“The RC Pro Nitro Beach Caribbean Off-Road Challenge” is way more than just another race!

Homestead Updates
Wed Feb 28, 2007 3:41PM
Also here are some links for Homestead Miami Speedway. They have a commercial running which includes a few clips of 1/8 onroad cars ... check it out.
http://www.homesteadmiamispeedway.com/documents/XMSpeedjam_V2_01.wmv
The speedway has also posted an event schedule and announced the band that will be in concert.
http://homesteadmiamispeedway.com/533034.html
This schedule was posted on the 1st of this month but has been shoved back several pages so I'm bringing it to the front again.
IF we hit our entry limits here's how things can work.
Thursday - practice
Friday - practice until 2:00 then 2 rounds of qualifying ending at 8:00pm
Saturday - 1 round of qualifying starting at 8 am. Mains start at
11:30 and end by 7:00pm.
If any problems arise we can have some time on sunday. This can hold with trying to get the majority of our program in on saturday plus give more practice time on friday and one round of qualifying on saturday. We can open the track friday night after qualifying until we need to shut down. Entries must be in by March 10th we can then set a definite schedule since we will know exactly how many qualifiers we will need per round and how many mains we will need.
If we get less than our maximum turnout we can either have a more relazed saturday (get to watch more of the happenings) or add an extra round of qualifying.
South Round 1
Tue Feb 27, 2007 6:19PM
Here's the entry list as of right now. All entries the track had received were listed and sent to me. I'm sure I missed the spelling on someone's name since the list I got was hand written. The track will make sure they have all the entries tomorrow. We will be filling the heats we have now. We do have some openings in all classes except for Intermediate Arena Truck.
Link to the entry page HERE
South Nitro Offroad Round 1
Mon Feb 26, 2007 9:32PM
Round 1 at Porter is full right now. We have to get all the entries in the computer and see how many heats we will have and then be able to see what openings we have. We will be able to fill heats so there will be some openings. If you haven't sent your entry in yet you can fax it in to the shop and it will be put on the wating list until we see how many more we can handle.
thanks
Carlton
