Ian Benefit Updates
Fri May 9, 2008 6:36PM
Below is the current flier. We may have a 3rd US event on the same date in Texas. I have to check schedules for conflicts first.
Thanks to all the sponsors who are stepping up to participate in this.
We have more details coming. We are working on a format for the events with the focus on FUN! Also the charity fund bank account is done now we they just have to get the paypal account verified we can do an entry form on RC Sign Up for the events. There will be 2 ways to donate. 1) you can enter the event and just note you won't be attending. This way we know who to enter in the computer for each race. 2) We will have a donation button hosted on this site and several others.

Ian Crabtree News
Thu May 1, 2008 4:07AM
I want to keep this story at the top of this page so the previous posting was deleted and all info will be put into this one post including updates.
I want to thank everyone for the great response to this effort. Especially our News Partners for their efforts. Welcome Volker at Buggy Sport and Luigi at RC Revolution to this effort. They will be assisting Neo Buggy and Pirate RC in spreading the word in Europe.
Current Update.
Ian is home and doing well but showing signs of his treatments. For the most recent news please visit his blog. http://iancrabtree.blogspot.com/
Just a note to let everyone know what is happening.
There has been a Fund setup for Ian so anyone who wants to can donate. We are waiting on the info to do this right now. Once it is completed there will be a donation button generated in paypal and it will be hosted on the RC Pro site and any other site that wants to host it.
I originally started with the idea of an event to benefit Ian. Well that got completely blown up! But that was good. As it stands right now Black Sheep Raceway in Utah (Mike Crabtree's old home track) will be hosting an event as well as Real Rc in Pleasant Hill Missouri. The date is July 19th for both. We have a 3rd event that is planned but not totally confirmed at this point in the UK. This is being organized by Philip from Neo Buggy and Richard from Pirate RC. The idea is to have all 3 on the same date. Hopefully we will have confirmation back from the UK soon. They are checking the date and I'm sure clearing it with the club involved. All proceeds from these events will go to the family. RCSignup will also host the entries for all the events and we can set it up so the entries go straight to the fund for Ian.
We are currently putting sponsors together for these events. The main focus is product for charity auctions and raffles at the events. We have a limited time frame to put a magazine ad together. It has to be submitted by May 5th. Xtreme RC and RC car are onboard as sponsors. Also the current list includes Neo Buggy, Pirate RC, Traxxas, Mod Hobby.com, J Concepts, Raceday Hobbies, Team Titan, RC Pro Caribbean and RC Pro US. I'm sure more will be added as we go.
IF YOU OR YOUR COMPANY HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET AND WOULD BE INTERESTED IN DONATING PRODUCT FOR RAFFLES AT THESE EVENTS PLEASE CONTACT.

ORIGINAL POST BELOW THIS.
I received some bad news late last night from a very good friend to RC Pro and the rc industry in general.
Mike Crabtree from 5 spoke Films emailed me to let me know about his son Ian. Mike was at the RC Pro event at Real RC this past weekend and the following Monday morning he and his wife had to take Ian to the doctor. Ian has been diagnosed with Leukemia..... he is only 3 years old! He has already undergone his 1st chemo treatment yesterday and the prognosis is good but the family is in for a lot of treatments in the future. Mike gave me permission to post the info to this site as a way to inform the friends he has made in rc. Mike has started a blog for Ian so everyone can keep up with his progress. http://iancrabtree.blogspot.com/
Ian is at the Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City if anyone would like to send cards. The address is posted below.
Something I haven't discussed with Mike. Everyone knows Mary and I as RC Pro try to do as much charity work for children's hospitals as we can. We would like to do a benefit event for Ian to help the family with some of the expenses they will be incuring. As of this post I'm just starting with this idea so I have no planned date yet. I do have a place in mind I just have to make the call to the track owner and I know he and his wife will go for it. I will post info as soon as I have more.
Please keep Ian and his family in your prayers.
Ian was able to go home today and will be doing treatment as an outpatient. Any cards sent to the family should be sent to his home.

Since I posted this info 12 hours ago several things have happened. Philip with Neo-Buggy picked up on the info and wants to help with an event for Ian. I have also talked to Steve Hale with Real RC in Pleasant Hill and he has offered his track for the event. Steve is also at the Truggy Nats this weekend and will talk to as many people as possible about getting involved. Monday he and I will discuss a date and as soon as it's set I will post it here and I'm sure Philip will post it on Neo-Buggy. We are working on a way for people to donate so stay tuned for more info. If anyone in the US, Canada or Caribbean wish to donate items for a raffle please contact me at nitrooffroad@rcprosites.com . If anyone outside those areas wish to donate items please contact Philip at philip@neo-buggy.net
Kyle Skidmore Interview

Kyle Skidmore Interview - 2007 Gas Truck National Champion

How long have you been in RC?
I have been in RC for about 13 years.
I know your Dad has always been your pit man at the races I have been at did he get you into RC or did you get him into it?
My dad got me an rc10t sport for Christmas one year; it took us I think, 5 or 6 months to build it. I was only supposed play with it in the yard, but I wanted to go to the track and race when we got it done. And the rest was history.
