Nitro Beach Challenge

Wed Jul 11, 2007 2:33AM

Construction has finally started on the Nitro Beach track for the race in January. Rafa, Braulio and crew went out last weekend and did the layout for the track by cutting the grass short and applying weed killer where the lanes will be. The next step is to start the drivers stand and bring in the clay. The clay will be laid in the design that has been laid out and should be 8 to 10 inches deep not counting the jump areas. This will be a ribbon style track and the marshal areas (the unmowed area) will remain the natural grass. Below is a link to the pics from this past weekend. The over all dimensions of the track is 200x100. The back straight is 200ft long. The front pit straight is 110ft long. The lanes are 15ft wide on the entire track.

Contacts

Sun Jun 24, 2007 7:09PM

I'm not exactly sure what I did but I screwed up the rcproseries@gmail email address I was using. It has something to do with me attempting to log in while on the road and now I can't log into it. Since we have website emails now I'm converting everything over to that now. For the current email list go to the contacts page in the menu. Please use the appropriate email for your questions this way the right person gets the right emails. I'm also doing the permanent numbers assignments again. I'm currently trying to get caught up on them. So if you emailed about a number and didn't get a response please use the form for applying for a number now and resubmit it so I can try to take care of the ones that were missed.

thanks
Carlton

2007 Can Am Challenge

Tue Jun 19, 2007 9:32AM

Can-Am Challenge/RC-Pro Series Race #1 report

With RC-Pro making its first venture into the Canada this was surely going to be a good race. The Can-Am Challenge has grown on its own merit in the three years the Ontario 1/8 On-Road Racing Club has been in existence. Some big names from the Midwest Series crossed the border for their first trip to the challenging layout in Hamilton. This was surely more of a Can-Am Challenge than in the previous year’s races.

Rafa has lined up the dirt for this event which will be red clay. Below is the rough drawing of the layout we will use. The track will be located on the side of a hill so there will be some nice elevation changes. It will also be a ribbon style track so we can use all the dirt coming in for the racing surface and the marshal areas will be grass.

Shriner's Hospital Event

Fri Jun 15, 2007 2:02PM

On June 23rd the Shriner's Orthapedic Hospital in Houston and the Burn Center in Galveston will have a Carnival for the kids at the Houston Texans practice facility. 2 Cool Racing and RC Pro will be there to maintain the Vendettas and Mini T's that were donated to the hospital last year for the kids to run. Jeff Felty with Team Helotes has stepped up and donated 6 battery packs for the event and Bucky with The RC Hobby Shop in Sugarland has donated 2 packs. They are expecting around 200 kids so we should be busy recharging packs and trying to keep these cars together for the kids. Any other companies that would wish to donate some parts or more batteries for these vehicles please contact me at info@rcprosites.com .

thanks

Trying to get caught up!

Tue Jun 12, 2007 4:23PM

I've been out on the road for the last 2 weeks. 1st I was at the West Round 1 and then I went straight to the Northeast round 1 this past weekend. I have a lot of updates to do plus emails to answer. Please be patient while I try to get caught up. I also have some family stuff I have to tend to. My dad had what they are calling a mini stroke while I was gone so I'm keeping a close watch on him right now. He seems to be okay but I will now be at his place a lot working on the plaques for our upcoming events because he won't slow down so the only thing I can do is help him and keep on eye on him at this point. He is more stubborn than I am if you can believe that.

South Round 2

Wed May 30, 2007 8:26AM

South round 2 in Oklahoma City this weekend.
I've been asked in several emails if we may reschedule this event. NOT RIGHT NOW! I talked to Jerald yesterday and he was doing the rework on the track for this weekend. He said it was dusty right now and he could use some rain so he doesn't have to water so much! The track hasn't had any rain since sunday. The forecast calls for 50% chance today which he hopes happens to help water the track in. Also the forecast shows 20% chance after today through saturday and nothing on sunday. I think everyone in the Texas /Oklahoma area knows a 20% - 30% chance is always in the forecast just so the weather people can cover their tails. This is a better forecast than we had for this race last year so right now everything looks good.

RC Pro Event Entries

Fri May 25, 2007 6:16PM

It seems some of the people looking to enter events, offroad in particular, think all they have to do is call in an entry and pay later. One track this year did that on their own and they learned why not to do that. That isn't the normal RC Pro proceedure. Entries must be paid to be confirmed. There are several problems with holding spots for someone that calls in an entry but doesn't pay. The main problem is when people call in to enter and don't pay we have a high percentage of them decide last minute not to come. If that race fills up then someone who actually was coming may not have gotten in because of that. The other problem is the track owner has to spend a lot of time tracking down the people that haven't paid yet. Most go pay when they get there but some forget to and have to be tracked down. This takes someone away from other jobs that need to be done.

Another problem we have on entries is getting all the info we need. A lot of people don't put the PT numbers on their entry form and wait until they get to the track to give them to us.... sometimes after we have already setup the heats! This just creates delays in the program for everyone. If you have a PT put the number on your entry! Otherwise it will cause you to have to stand in line to give your info and cut into your practice or race time. Yes I have almost 4,000 entries listed in my computer but it seems a lot of people change PT numbers and frequencies very often so I never know for sure if what I have is right or not. The earlier we get your info the earlier we can get heats posted to be sure everything is correct and less chance of delaying the program.
