RC Pro Announcements

As info is posted everything else moves down the page. Please scroll down for ALL the news. Sorry but we post a lot of stuff and things don't stay at the top long

RenegadeRadio.Net

Tue Oct 30, 2007 11:41AM

I announced in an earlier post that Renegade Radio is promoting the Finals this year but here's somemore info.

Chris Nite did an interview with me that has been playing the last week. Yes it started as a simple 10 minute interview and turned into 45 minutes! Needless to say Chris and I were having fun. Well this coming saturday (Nov. 3rd) I will be co-hosting the show with Chris. The show starts at 7pm central time and should run about 4hrs. Yes 4 hours of me talking rc racing and giving Chris a hard time. I want to invite everyone to listen in at www.renegaderadio.net log into the chat and tell us what you want to hear or ask questions because I'm not sure I can think of 4 hours of stuff to talk about! LOL

It's a Boy

Sun Oct 28, 2007 1:55PM

Congratulations go out to the RC Pro Caribbean Director Rafael Sabatier and his wife on the birth yesterday of their 1st baby. The report is it's a boy! 8lbs - 21 inches long. Baby is fine but mom is tired! I'm betting dad is too he just doesn't know it yet!

I think Rafa already has an rc car for him........ atleast that's what he told his wife! LOL

State Fair Report

Sun Oct 21, 2007 1:52PM

We spent most of the day yesterday at the State Fair passing out fliers for the International Finals and registering people for the Warhead give away during the last program yesterday.
The 720 Action Sports guys were having trouble dealing with the wind especially on their larger tricks. Most of them were working injured after 24 days of performances. I was particularly impressed with Jason Cox working with a broken foot! He broke it last week doing a trick but soldiered on anyway doing 3 shows a day. I saw him land wrong a few times yesterday further irritating it.
Thanks to all the 720 crew Kevin Smith, Steve Gore , Dave Weathersby and Jason cox for letting us be part of their shows and try to get rc out in front of the spectators at the fair. Maybe next year we can get things setup far enough in advance to do some demos of our own.

The winner of the Warhead was Chris Graves. I feel sorry for him wasn't parked close to the gate! That truck is heavy! I know because I was parked almost 2 miles from the Thrillway!

Thanks to Duratrax/Hobbico for the truck. Look for the Hobbico guys in their display booth at the finals in a couple weeks.

State Fair of Texas Promotion

Fri Oct 19, 2007 1:55PM

The Texas State Fair is winding down and this weekend is the last one for this year.
mary and I will be there tomorrow the 20th from about 1pm - 6pm at the 720 Action Sports Freestyle Show. We will have FREE registration for a Warhead Monster Truck that we will give away during the last show that day.
Thanks to Duratrax/Hobbico for sending this truck! We will also have ticket give aways for the finals as well as be passing out info about RC in general and the Finals.

So if you want a chance to win a MONSTER TRUCK or win FREE TICKETS before you can buy them come by and see us tomorrow!

Questions

Fri Oct 19, 2007 1:49PM

I have had several questions about the finals this year via email but one in particular that I want to address here. This question has come up every year since I have been running RC Pro.

TSA Statement on RC Vehicles

TSA Statement On Information Regarding Remote Control Toys

Press Release Press Release

Photo of various remote controlled toys

Washington-This notice is to explain why passengers may notice additional security measures related to remote control devices. In view of the period of strategic warning discussed in the National Intelligence Estimate on Homeland Security released in July, TSA is carefully monitoring information developed in the law enforcement and intelligence communities related to methods of possible attack.

While not associated with a specific threat at this time, TSA is aware that remote control toys can be used to initiate devices used in terrorist attacks.  Accordingly, Transportation Security Officers have trained on this possibility and travelers may encounter additional screening when bringing remote control devices in carry-on baggage.

Notice they do not say they are not allowed. They will just be checked more closely. Be sure to allow time before your flight just in case you get an agent that wants to be thorough. I fly almost every week and have some suggestions from my experiences and some racers who have passed on their suggestions.
The best info I can give is don't even think about developing an attitude with the TSA agent because they will make your life miserable! I know several people who have had that experience. Can we say strip search? The last couple of months they have checked my laptop and printer that I carry in my back pack. They don't say what they are looking for of course. I just think it's strange I have been carrying this stuff for almost 3 years and they just now start looking at it.

1) Ship everything possible. Either to your hotel or most races will have a shipping place set up.
2) If you carry your car or radio on as a carry on take the batteries out and put them in your checked luggage. Then you can show nothing can be powered up.
3) This one is from Skinny. Wrap the car minus wheels in saran wrap of course after you clean it.
4) Carry a magazine with you and maybe even a flier for the event your attending.
5) For rc stuff in checked luggage. Make sure they can open all boxes and compartments. If you want to lock your bags there are TSA locks available that the TSA agent can open and they won't have to cut the lock off or call you back to baggage check.
6) Clean the fuel tank and engines. It's questionable whther they can pick up fuel residue or not since I carry a plastic graduated cylinder for checking fuel volume in my check bag to every race and I never clean it out before I fly. I have never gotten to a race and it wasn't there. It may be broken but it IS there.

Now for Caribbean specific thoughts since we have a number of Caribbean drivers coming to the Finals. If you decide to ship equipment us the US Postal Service as much as possible. It doesn't cost anymore to send stuff USPS to or from Puerto Rico than it soes to send it from Texas to Cali. If you use UPS or FedX it will cost considerably more just because they have to cross the water.

Updated Entries

Thu Oct 18, 2007 11:22PM

I just updated the entries. I'm doing something different this year instead of shirts in case you didn't read the entry flier. I've been asked since 2004 to do pit towels again so I'm doing those for all the national finals this year. State Fair of Texas

Sun Sep 23, 2007 4:04PM

RC Pro will be a sponsor of the 720 Action Sports Show at the State Fair this year. This is a BMX Stunt Show on the Midway. The 720 riders put on 72 shows during the 24 days of the fair. The Fair draws 3.5 million spectators a year. As a sponsor we will have our banner on the midway a logo on one of the jumps and literature about RC Pro, RC and the International Finals in the autograph area during the shows. We think this will be a great opportunity to get info out about RC. We will also be doing ticket give aways for the Finals in Alvarado on select days.

I do need some help with this from some of the DFW area racers. I would like to have some of the racers passing out our literature on select days. So if your interested please contact me at carlton@rcprosites.com . I will be there for the October 20th weekend since I don't have any races scheduled for me to attend.
The Fair opens on September 27th.

Take a look at the State Fair website as well as the 720 Action Sports site.

2007 International Finals

Fri Sep 21, 2007 11:44AM

We are steadily getting entries for the International Finals this year. We have almost 100 entries right now. I have emailed confirmations to each person that has paid their entry. We do have a number of people that have not paid yet. If you have not gotten a confirmation from me that means you have not completed your entry yet. WE WILL ONLY HOLD SPOTS FOR PAID ENTRIES. So when the early entry cutoff date comes up for your division your spot won't be quaranteed unless it's paid. I sent the confirmations based on what has gone into the paypal account.

thanks

Carlton
