Nitro Beach Update
Wed Sep 12, 2007 12:04PM
Nitro Beach is slowly closing in but with all the info being posted here about the International Finals the info kind of got pushed back a couple pages.
This will be the best RC Vacation you can get. I have been told by more racers that once thier wife saw the info and pictures they want to go, so this will be a nice vacation for the whole family. Mary wants to setup some day trips and tours for the wives to go do while all the guys are racing. So there should be plenty of fun stuff for the wives or they can just lay out on the beach.
The San Juan Airport is the largest on the island and the easiest to get flights into. I have checked on the cost and it averages $300 round trip which is about the normal cost for flights in the US. So no outrageous pricing on flights if you book early enough and no passport needed from the US. San Juan is 90 miles from Isabella and I'm told it's a very scenic drve. There is another airport in Augadilla which is about 20 miles from Isabella. I didn't find a direct flight into that airport from the US Mainland it is a shuttle flight from San Juan. This would be better if your not comfortable driving from San Juan but it will add some cost to the flight.
The town of Isabella is really behind this event so we should be able to get plenty of spectators out to watch the racing. The track is still being built at this point. Rafa is now done with the events for RC Pro Caribbean so he can devote more time to the track build now.
Villa Del Mar Haus has a new website now with more pictures. Please check it out .Click on the logo to go to their website.

Our rates for the event and the entry flyer are posted HERE
Now let's talk rumors! Rumor has it a certain Editor at Large is looking to make the trip! Also yesterday I was told one of the major sponsored drivers was talking about going while on a recent trip overseas. Sounds like things are shaping up. Once I can verify these rumors as FACT I'll post it here.

The newly built racetrack was truly amazing; it had been designed and built to perfection. Even the most seasoned pros worked really hard to get their cars dialled in. The track surface started blue grooving on Friday morning during practice, the rhythm sections were timed to perfection the jumps were built with precision and it was then that we realised that a competition of note was about to unfold. The first qualifiers started and our predictions were spot on.
